Train For Life Empowerment Campaign Post 32: SELF-REGULATION - When you feel anxiety, frustration, sadness, or anger does it register in your body like life has hit a hard serve in your direction? It does for me and my tendency is to volley back in the form of fight, flight or freeze or better yet... defend, deflect or justify... any of these sound familiar? If you are triggered and want to fire a hard, fast swing back consider pausing and doing nothing. Step off the court, stop playing the game and give yourself a few minutes to process the situation and your emotions. Maybe even ask yourself why you were triggered. Practicing the pause is powerful, it is giving yourself that sacred space to regulate between stimulus and response.
