The 5P Change Model

TM

PAUSE. PROCESS. PLAN. PIVOT. PROCEED.

Empower Health America provides consulting services to help organizations, leaders, teams, and individuals develop and navigate the change process, so outcomes are achievable and sustainable.

The 5P Change Model

TM

1

PAUSE.
Clarity and awareness are critical.

Pause – does not mean the suspension of action, but rather the intentional focus on the current state to identify what needs to be adjusted or changed, and why.

2

PROCESS.
Reflection and understanding are essential.

Dicovery is key to gaining clarity and alignment.

3

PLAN.
Implementation and alignment are vital.

Design an action plan to support the desired change and outcome.

4

PIVOT.
Action and deployment are critical.

Implement the plan, and prepare for needed adjustments along the way.

5

PROCEED.
Adoption and inspection are key.

Measure and inspect if the change has been institutionalized, and if the desired outcomes have been achieved.

The 5P Change Model helps guide individuals, teams, and organizations through the change process.

gratitude

Empower Health America is an education-based consulting firm that values research.

Thank you to Northeastern University in Boston for conducting academic research to test the validity of the
5P Change Model

Twenty talented student researchers tested the validity of the model in the following four areas.

SM

The 5P Change Model & the research that supports the model reinforces the importance of PAUSING and PROCESSING before taking action. The model integrates mindfulness into the process which improves planning, decision-making, and outcomes. Sustainable change requires intentional action.

Additional Comments
Northeastern Student Researchers

The 5P Change Model helps individuals to learn how to break down decisions in a strategic and effective manner, especially when under stress.

Working with the 5P Change Model showed me that decisions are not always straightforward and involve thorough reflection on the situation at hand and greater self-awareness. The 5P framework guides an individual towards making the most optimal decision based on their unique values and goals. - Northeastern Student Researcher

Using the 5P Change Model has helped me realize the importance of:

Being open-minded and flexible when working with a team

Pausing and breathing

Self-reflection and mindfulness to ultimately make the best decision

Being kind to myself and others during stressful and difficult situations

Introspection and mindful thought and how both can have a powerful impact on one's life

Taking a "pause" during times of stress in our lives

I benefited from learning about the versatility of The 5P Change Model and how it can be applied to various stressful situations that I may encounter.

This project opened my eyes to the potential that a model like this can have on increasing efficiency and reducing stress!

I hope to incorporate The 5P Change Model into my own life.

Working on The 5P Change Model elucidated so much of what life is all about perpetual self-reflection and self-growth!

Being able to work with a business sponsor and do research with a team was an outstanding opportunity.

The opportunity to collaborate with a corporate sponsor and peers to research the model was a rewarding experience.
